Deron is the Executive Director and Founder of the Freecycle Network, a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Freecycle Network is a web community. It enables people to find others in their local community to give things to that they would otherwise end up throwing away or taking to the landfill. “One Man’s Trash is another Man’s Treasure.”

Freecycle Mission Statement is ~~“To build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community.”

  1. I am trying to get a hold of Deron, for a problem I have been having in the Huntington Beach, CA group. I have been removed from the group and falsely accused of something that I have done. I was never given a chance to defend myself, but found guilty, labeled, and removed. I am very passionate about standing on the principal of the matter, not backing down, and ready to do everything and anything to come against the group and the company if I have to. I have tried to get a resolve with Joel, who is in charge of the Freecycle for California, but my efforts have been unsuccessful. Joel knows my predicament the most, but doesn’t have the balls to step in and do anything about it. I am hoping that someone will take my predicament seriously. I can be reached at itsfuntoemail@yahoo.com.

  2. i surfed in here for the exact same reason. i was a member of delcopafreecycle in southeastern pa from its inception and we used to have the best group you could ask for. but the list owner moved and handed the group over to someone she thought she could trust. however, the new owner took on an extremely haughty moderator who removed me without reason. i sent email exchange to mike (goa of pa) proving my position but he too just rolled over even though my groups mods offered no proof against me. apparently, their word trumps my facts. the parent organization abhors flaming, yet offers members zero recourse against bad moderators. i am hoping that someone will take a serious look at my situation also. i can be reached at lmatchgirl@hotmail.com
